Aug 25, 2009 · A prop with thru-hub exhaust won't have a shear pin -- it'll have a rubber inner hub pressed in, designed to protect the drive train from the shock of shifting into gear, and impact with the lake bed. If that hub gets damaged, the engine will rev up when you put it in gear but the boat won't go -- kinda like a slipping clutch in a manual shift car.

Oct 23, 2003 · If this is an OMC you will have to use the 4489. If this is a mercruiser application grounding the white wire will work fine. The way the shift-interrupt works on the OMC applications grounding this wire is very unreliable. thanks, MSD tech4
